STC Group Trust Launch

The STC Group - South African Development Trust Launch was held on the 4th October 2007 during the Awards Evening of Groenberg Secondary School, the first recipient identified for donor funding. The event took place at the school hall and was hailed a success.

Among the dignitaries was Dr. Don Mattera, patron of the STC Group - South African Development Trust, the Speaker of the Western Cape Provincial Legislature, Mr. Shaun Byneveldt, the Mayor of the Theewaterskloof District, Mr. Chris Punt, and the deputy Mayor, Mrs. Pearl Stanfliet.

Speeches were given by Mr. Herschel Maasdorp, trustee of the STC Trust, Dr. Don Mattera and Mr. Shaun Byneveldt. Mr. Herschel Maasdorp elaborated on the 3 programs for intervention, accepted by the trustees. Thereafter an agreement was signed by the principal of Groenberg School, Mr. Anthony Hess and Mr. Herschel Maasdorp.

During his speech Dr. Don Mattera recited a poem he had written moments before for the people of Grabouw. This was very well received by both the parents and teachers of Groenberg Secondary School.
